On a Snowy December Morning

We had a great morning playing in the snow. When I called everyone in for lunch I decided to give my kids their first cup of hot chocolate. They both loved it! Ben thoroughly enjoyed every drop. Here are the pictures from the morning and then Ben's hot cocoa face!

So Frustrating

I am not frustrated, I am border-line mad, angry, not ETP-ing, however you want to put it. This is the first Sunday in four weeks where the kids are healthy enough to go to church, HOWEVER this ALSO happens to be the first time in four weeks that I get a migraine. This sucks lemons

I am a Little Behind

n effort to save money this year I decided to take Hannah and Ben's birthday pictures myself. I guess that I was getting tired/frustrated with paying for pictures of my kids crying. I don't really take good pictures, I am not a Leila, Joan, or even Mo, I am a Bekah and I am happy with that. Anyways, here are Hannah and Ben's birthday pictures this year. Now I just need to print them out and send them to the relatives!

It Could Have Been Worse

Well, we survived! Curtis had a good talk with her telling her that she didn't have to sing but he did want her to not hang her head down, and she didn't! She didn't sing of course, but she held her head up and even smiled a couple of times! She was in between her two close friends Jasett and Jacob. She was rewarded afterward with pink ice cream, which she didn't eat of course! Here are some pictures. I couldn't get a picture of just her. She was too close to Jacob, he was definitely her security blanket!

What Will the Night Bring

My four year old daughter is extremely shy. If you try to talk to her one on one it is very hard to do. I think that the main reason is because she doesn't like the attention on her. At her birthday parties she starts freaking out when everyone is staring at her opening her presents, same sort of thing when she is singing. Hannah loves to sing, she does it all of the time, but if she is aware that she is being watched, she will stop and hide her face. For example, yesterday, we took my grandpa to the airport and on the way back she started singing "Jingle Bells" with her brother and as soon as she saw me looking at her in my rear view mirror she instantly stopped and hid her face. This was not a surprise. So why is it that I am SO looking forward to her first Christmas concert tonight? My mom and I have bets on what she is going to do. She will either stand there looking at the floor with tears glistening in her eyes or she will stand there with her hands over her eyes. Hannah's preschool teacher Mrs. Hawke, encouraged me to be sitting near the front aisle just in case Hannah has a teary melt down. Kathy saw that Hannah is definitely not a performer. So, this will be fun. I will definitely take pictures and maybe even a video of this hilarious event!

Fun Fair 2008

So, we don't really celebrate Halloween but we love dressing the kids up in costumes. Every year our church hosts a "Fun Fair" filled with games, food, candy, a bouncy house, and some kind of drop near the ed (balloon drop, leaf drop, etc). This year was our first year going, the kids were pretty excited! Hannah dressed up as a 'Fairy Snow Princess' while Ben was, of course, a Michigan Wolverine football player. The kids had a blast! They went into the bouncy house 3 or 4 times, the petting zoo twice and played some other toddler games. Here are some pictures from the night. Can't until next year!

Blogaboo

I am now 18 1/2 weeks pregnant and so far haven't felt this baby move at all! Not once. I had an ultrasound this past Friday, and I was really nervous about it. All of these "what if'"s had been entering my mind. What if there is no heart beat anymore? What if there is a heart beat but the baby isn't moving? What if there are two babies in there and they are both not moving? The lists went on and on. I am continually amazed how easy it is for Satan to put those kind of thoughts in your mind. Thoughts of doubt, thoughts of my own lack of faith, doubting God's providence and His goodness. Every time those thoughts enter my mind I try to battle them with the truth of Philippians 4:8. Bekah what is true. The truth is that I haven't felt any movement. Another truth is that God will not give me ANYTHING that I can not handle. God is and will always be GOD! The rest of life are opportunities given to show Him glory. What great reminders!

Well, the ultrasound went fine. Everything looks normal. My child was in no way cooperating. I have to go back in on October 17 to get better pictures. She said (the technician that is) that even if we wanted to find out what we are having (which we don't) that there was no way she would have been able to tell.

Everything else has been the same around here. Hannah enjoys going to pre-school and mommy enjoys trying to figure what Hannah is saying about, pre-school. Ben has been picking up a lot of sentences, and it is fun listening to him talk. He still has no interest what-so-ever to potty train, but that time will come, hopefully before February! Curtis is entering his last quarter of his schooling. Soon he will be completely done! I think that we are all excited for that day to come!! Other than that our days are filled with its comings and goings, and that's about it! I will post again soon!

Everytime

So, as different as this pregnancy has been one thing has been consistent....bed rest. For all three of my pregnancies I have at some time been put on bed rest. With Hannah I was on bed rest for one day and one day only and that day just happened to be our one year anniversary! With Ben I was on bed rest for two full days before I had to go to the hospital. And now with child number three I am on modified bed rest for at least the rest of this week, at least it is not complete bed rest like the others were.

In case you are wondering Bekah, why are you on bed rest. Yesterday I decided that I wanted to go work out and after five minutes on being on the elliptical machine I started feeling some cramping so I got off and went to the bathroom only to discovered that I was bleeding pretty heavily. After getting the bleeding under control I woke Curtis up from his nap and told him what was going on. I then went on line to do some research on when to call the doctor, and then after ten minutes I went back to the bathroom only to now discover that the bleeding had completely stopped. I was pretty relieved and confused at the same time. I decided to call the doctor and the on call doctor told me that I had probably broken a capillary blood vessel near my cervix, so, I am now on modified bed rest. No exercise, no cleaning, no sex, no vacuuming, no heavy lifting including my kids, and try to lay down as much as I can. But I can still cook, drive, and almost everything else. So, that is what is going on. Today, we are having a movie day and tomorrow starts are busy week once again!

Where were you on 9/11

I remember that I was on my way to work listening to Jazz on NPR news when they interrupted my program with a news bulletin, shortly after that my friend Jessica called me and told me what happened and to see if I had talked to any of the navy guys on board of the USS Lincoln. I must admit that I didn't understand the gravity of what the news or my friend was describing. I was only 21 and absorbed in my own little world, concerning my own little family and my own little friends. It wasn't until I arrived at the Ophthalmology office where I worked and saw the streaming video's online where it hit me, and even then it didn't effect me the way it effects me now. 2,751 lost their lives that day. Many things have changed since that day, the US is no longer ignorant of terrorist like we seemed to have been before. The radical Islamic put Christians to shame in their devotion to Allah, they seem to show more devote passion and commitment to their god, and are willing to die and kill innocent people to show their love and devotion to Allah, and to punish those who don't believe in Allah. Two years later the US waged war upon terrorist and have been fighting that war since. I remember thanking God for a president that wasn't hasty in his decision to go to war. The US have lost 3,376 soldiers in combat since the beginning of the war. That is only 625 more the we lost on 9/11, they are making sure that what happened then, won't happened again. Reflections on this particular day serves as a good reminder to be thankful for our government, those who serve our country in the military, those who gave their lives on that day, thankfulness to God that He is sovereign over all things, and that He has already won the battle!

Why I love Fall

So I know that I am completely copying Lisa Martin but I think that it is a good idea to be thankful in every season!

Fall is by far my favorite season. I love the cooler temperature, snuggling up in sweaters and jeans.

I love the changing colors of the trees.

I love trimming back all of my plants. I love hot cocoa.

I love Turkey around Thanksgiving. I love the Thanksgiving holiday!

I love the foggy mornings that burn off into sunny but cool afternoons.

I love college football, especially Michigan Wolverines! GO BLUE!!

I love watching soccer games in the afternoons! I love how at Grace, everything starts up again, all of the ministries that took the summer off begin again and the campus is hopping! What a great season fall is!

Hannah's Big Day

So today Hannah entered into the next phase of her life. This phase will occupy the next 13 years of her life...yes...school! Today was her first day of pre-school at Grace Academy. She had no problems leaving me, in fact I hung up her coat and went to turn around, she had already gone to her desk and started coloring a picture. It was a little disapointing, I was expecting a little bit of clinging. After 2 1/2 hours of schooling I picked her up and asked Kathy Hawke how she did. Kathy said that Hannah just jabbered away, talked, talked, talked, and then talked some more. Now if you guys know Hannah at all, she is not a talker unless she is in an extremely comfortable setting. So here are her pictures from me waking her up with a flash to Tim Lugg taking a family picture! It was great!!

This Past Weekend.

Here are a few shots of where I was this past week. My brother Cory and his new wife were married in Meridian, Idaho. It was a lot of fun. Wednesday and Thursday were spent helping my mom get my grandpa's house ready for the rehearsal dinner on Friday night. While Friday was spent at the house where the wedding was going to be held at, working on decorations, chair setup, ironing, and whatever else they needed me to do. The wedding was small, elegant, and beautiful! Here are some pictures. Hannah was the flower girl. She did great during the ceremony but was awful before hand taking pictures. I did however manage to get a few shots of her dress. Before I forget, the bride and her bridesmaid's all decided to jump into the pool with their dresses on! It was really fun to watch but alas I didn't have my camera with me at that time so I missed that photo opportunity!
