Combatting with a Toddler

So, Hannah will three in three weeks and she has fully entered her inquisitive stage of life that will last the rest of her life. Always asking "Why?". Here is an example that was played out this morning; Hannah was dragging her stool across the bathroom floor creating great noise. "Hannah! You have got to learn to be more quiet!" Hannah's reply was "Why?" "Because, your brother is sleeping." "Why?" "Because, he still takes a morning nap." "Why?" "Because, if he doesn't, he gets too cranky." "Why?" "Because, he is tired, when he gets tired, he gets cranky." "Why?" "I don't know, I think that he gets it from your daddy:)." "Why?" "Because, parents pass certain traits down to their kids." "Why?" "It is called genetics, we pass our genes down to our offspring." "Why?" "Because, that is one of the ways that we can tell that we are family." "Why?" "Why what Hannah?" "Why families?" "Because, that is one of the orders that God has placed on earth, along with church and government." She then replied "Oh, okay." And that was the end. Oh how I am looking forward to another 20 years of this!!

FRUSTRATION!!

I am sitting here at home, it is Wednesday night, and I am in pain! While flossing my teeth Saturday night I popped out a filling from one of my back molars, and that exposed a open nerve. I hope you that you never have an experience of an open nerve in your mouth, this is my second experience, both have been and are very painful. Saturday night consisted of me dabbing "Ambelsol" on my broken tooth like every five minutes, taking Tylenol, taking Nyquil, sticking my hand in ice cold water, and then messaging the skin between my thumb and forefinger. The shock and awe principle of the ice cold water helped me through the night. Sunday morning it hurt to even breath through my mouth. This time I took Advil and Nyquil which didn't really help. Eight hours after taking those meds, I looked in the mirror and saw that my eyes were still dialated, my body still had the drugs that weren't working in them. Couldn't take any more until it wore off. Bad weekend! Monday, my dentist numbed me up for the rest of the day, and gave me a prescription for Codeine, and an antibiotic to fight the fever. Here it is on Wednesday, on the meds and still in alot of pain. The dentist told me that I should be feeling better by tomorrow. I am not that hopeful, I am in pain, I am frustrated, I am not etp-ing. I have now missed two small groups, singing in the summer concert, and have been sleeping basically 20 hours of the day since Sunday, and I am not enjoying the process...did I already say that?? Please pray that God will give me the strength to get through this with the right attitude, the right perspective, and the right focus!!

We played a game called 'True Colors', which really reveals what people think about you, and they way you come across. So, anyways, here are some pictures from it.

Enjoying the Process-"Holy Crap"

It has actually been awhile since I have shared how I am ETP-ing. With that in mind this may be a long one. :) One thing that I have noticed through scripture reading is that God has a sense of humor, or at least you can find humor in the Bible. Now, we have all heard the jokes as junior highers about Nehemiah (knee-high-miah), Bildad the shoehite, being in one accord(as in Honda Accord). But I have been in 1&2 Samuel and read about Saul pursuing David to kill him. There was great insight as I read how Saul went into the cave where David and his men were hiding to "relieve himself". I was think that must have been a major poop session for David's men to come out of the recess of the cave, see Saul, go back into the recess of the cave, tell David how God had delivered Saul into his hands, and then for David to come out, take a piece of Saul's robe and then go back into the recess of the cave. I mean we are talking anywhere from 15-20 minutes of pooping. Which of course while telling my mature husband of this he made a comment how God was sovereign in giving Saul a 'Hoy Crap'!! I thought that was hilarious!!! So, every time that I think of this particular story I am going to remember Saul taking his holy crap. God's word definitely brings many emotions to the table so to speak! Another thing that I am thankful for is my kids. I think that I have said this before but it seems like recently they have brought so much joy in my life! There are so many stories that I could share on a daily basis that I wouldn't have time to do anything else because I would constantly be typing my life out rather then living it out. After I recent visit to Ohio I am thankful for Skybus airlines for providing SUPER cheap tickets. I am thankful for my in-laws who completely provide for our every need while we are there. But most of all I am reminded of how thankful I am for our church!! Now don't misunderstand me their church is so friendly, and we love the pastor there, he is so personable. However there is nothing that compares to the preaching of God's Word, and the submission to it! The music was led by a 15 person worship team with a woman as the lead singer, and was also 'led by the spirit' Very distracting for those who worship and probably the musicians who were trying to follow her emotional lead. I will repeat it. There is nothing like Grace!! Lastly I am thankful for my husband! God is slowly teaching him how to have a giving heart concerning money! He is also so devoted to people, work, his family, and his God! He continually amazes me and I love him so stinkin' much!!

Picture of the day

This isn't exactly from today, it is actually from a couple of weeks ago in Ohio. This is Hannah and her Paw-Paw. Here they are cruising in the Corvette, Hannah is in the front seat with no seat belt, hanging out the window, waving "hi" as they drive by. My father-in-law calls this 'bending the law and not breaking the law'

Sunday's Scripture

Psalms 8

O Lord, our Lord, how excellent is Your name in all the earth, who have set Your glory above the heavens! Out of the mouths of babes and nursing infants You have ordained strength, because of Your enemies, that You may silence the enemy and the avenger. When I consider You heavens, the work of Your fingers, the moon and the stars, which You have ordained, what is man that You are mindful of him, and the son of man that You visit him? For You have made him a little lower than the angels, and You have crowned him with glory and honor. You have made him to have dominion over the works of Your hands; You have put all things under his feet, all sheep and oxen- even the beast of the field, the birds of the air and the fish of the sea that pass through the paths of the seas. O Lord, our Lord, how excellent is Your name in all the earth!
